At the inaugural Sri Lanka Schools Rowing Championships 2012 held at the Colombo Rowing Club, Beira Lake in Colombo from 13th to 15th in September Visakha Vidyalaya, Colombo, newcomers to the game, clinched the Under 16 overall championship with a crew of only seven oarswomen in the team.
