Kalutara Balika Excel In Netball And Athletics

Kalutara Balika Vidyalaya (National School) in Kalutara, emerged victorious in Netball, athletics, and Physical Training Exercises at National Level and All Island Level Sports Competitions, held during the year 2014 and were awarded colours and Merit Certificates, at Western Province Schools Colours Awards 2014, an annual felicitation ceremony, held under the patronage of Western Province Education Department’s Sports Unit, at BMICH, very recently.

Twenty four (24) Girls were awarded Merit Awards and four girls (Poorni Nawodya Amarasinghe, Malsha Chaturangani Perera, W Maleesha Thushari Silva and L Isuri Erndika Silva) were awarded colours for physical training exercises. Also, ten girls wee awarded colours for Netball and one girl (Fathima Shameema Risad) was awarded colours for athletics at the ceremony.

1 Kalutara Balika Vidyalaya was awarded the All Island National Schools Under 19 Netball Championship – 2014, 2. All Island Physical Training Exercises Championship (under 19) 3.
All Island National Schools Physical Training Exercises (under 19) championship, 4. All Island National Schools Putt Shot 2nd place Winner: Fathima Shameema Rishad.
The chief guest on the occasion were WP Education Director Wimal Gunarathna and Asst. Director in Education (Physical Education Sports) WP, Upali Amarathunga Colours, certificates and awards were awarded by the chief guest and other distinguished guests.
Nearly 800 school children, from 11 educational zones in Kalutara, Colombo and Gampaha Districts were felicitated at the BMICH, Colombo on this day.
