Bens Clinch Schools T20 Championship

St Benedict's College Kotahena routed St Peter's College by 22 runs in final of the Sri Lanka Schools Under-19 Twenty20 Tournament which concluded at the R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo yesterday.

Benedictines dismissed Peterites for 92 runs in 17.3 overs. Their star bowler Geethal Fernando bagged four wickets for 18 runs while Madushan Kularatne had two scalps for seven runs.
Lakshina Rodrigo (39 runs) and Thaneesha Weerakoon ( 25 not out) were the highlights for Peterites.
After electing to bat, Bens were under pressure as Ashanth Malk took five wickets. Thilina Dilshan's invaluable 45 runs and skipper Mahel Jayalth's 24-run contribution steered Benedictine for a competitive total of 114 runs. St Peter's College beat S Thomas' College by six wickets in the first semi-final and Benedictine advanced to the final after a 75-run win over Lumbini College Colombo on Wednesday.

(Thilina Dilshan 45, Mahel Jayalath 24, Ashanth Malk 5-15, Sachin Gunasekara 3-23).

St Peter's College: 92 all out in 17.3 overs

(Lakshina Rodrigo 39, Thaneesha Weerakoon 25 n.o, Geethal Fernando 4-18, Madushan Kularatne 2-7).
