St. Peter’s Create History By Winning Swimming Title

St. Peter’s College swimmers created history in the All Island National Schools Swimming Championship by winning the Overall Championship for the first time in the history of All Island National Schools swimming Championship. The brilliant Peterite swimmer Akalanka Peiris was crowned as the Overall Champion Swimmer.

Akalanka Peiris in the Under-15 age category clinched the first place in the 100M Free Style event, 50M Back Stroke event, 50M Dolphin event and in the 200M Individual Medley event. By virtue of his achievements Akalanka was crowned as the Overall Champion Swimmer. The Peterite swimmers all in all collected 33 points. By virtue of the points gathered from the championship, St. Peter’s College won their first ever National Swimming title.

Rev. Fr. Trevor Martin the Rector of St. Peter’s College and Sports Coordinator Rev. Fr. Sharm Dassanayake were highly appreciative of the Peterite swimmers on their historic and splendid achievement. They also thanked the Sports Secretary Troy Bartlet, Master in Charge Jude Denzil Fernando, Assistant Teacher in Charge Sujeewa Dias, the Coaches Mahi Chadralal, Upul Wijithasiri and Rajindra Perera for bringing glory and honour to St. Peter’s College.
