Trinity, Thurstan, Isipathana and S.Thomas’ become group-leaders of Under 19 D1 First-round

After completion of 144 matches by 36 schools which participated with each team playing a maximum of 8 tournament-matches in the first round of Under 19 Division One Inter-School Cricket Tournament 2015/16, last year’s league champions, Trinity College (149.5 points), Thurstan College (128.09), Isipathana (144.04) and S.Thomas’ College, Mt.Lavinia (134.56) became the table leaders of the four groups A, B, C & D respectively. These four teams along with 2nd, 3rd and 4th best teams in each group amounting to a total of 16 schools will go through to the second round that would be played on knock-out basis from pre-quarter final stage onwards until the finals, for selection of 2015/16 Champions. The second leg of this , Limited-over tournament that will be played after the conclusion of the second round will have the top seven teams of each four group, 28 teams altogether in participation from D1 category. The 16 teams qualified to play in the second round (final) are Trinity-Kandy, Ananda-Colombo, St. Aloysius-Galle, De Mazenod-Kandana (Group A), Thurstan-Colombo, Royal-Colombo, St.Josephs-Colombo, Zahira-Colombo (Group B), Isipathana-Colombo, Richmond-Galle, Gurukula-Kelaniya, St.Servatius-Matara (Group C), St.Thomas-Mt.Lavinia, St.Peters-Bambalapitiya, St.Sebastian’s-Moratuwa, Nalanda-Colombo (Group D). Isipathana and St.Thomas won all the matches they played in their respective groups maintaining 100% win-margin whilst Royal, Panadura who lost 6 matches with two no-decisions and Holy Cross losing all eight matches they played recorded no wins in the eight matches they played within their groups.
