Contest of ' Brotherhood ' On Feb 27 And 28

Yet another traditional 'Big Match' series will be heralded with the 52nd encounter between Isipathana and Thurstan on February 27 and 28th at the Sinhalese Sports Club Grounds. The principals of the two schools A.C.Perera (Isipathana) and Daya Bandara (Thurstan) presiding at a press briefing at the BRC pavilion, preferred the match to be named as the contest of Brotherhood rather than calling it a battle between schoolboy cricketers."


Student Dies During School Marathon

A 15-year-old student of Bolana Maha Vidyalaya in Ambalantota died this morning while taking part in the marathon conducted as part of the school's annual sports meet.
Police said the victim, a Grade 10 student of the school, had fallen down while running during the marathon and had died after being admitted to the Ambalantota hospital. The victim has been identified as Chamodh Sathsara, a resident of Ruhunu Ridiyagama, Ambalantota.


Dilroy Fernando To Help Pakistan Rugby

Experienced Asian Rugby Football Union trainer and educator Former Isipathanian Dilroy Fernando left for Pakistan on Friday on a training and coaching stint.Fernando has conducted many training and coaching programs in other parts of Asia and was invited by the Pakistan Rugby Union.While in Lahore, Fernando will help the Pakistan Rugby Union by introducing a structure for tournaments and officiating in matches among other aspects. Accompanying him were two coaches Viper Gunaratne and Ananda Kasthuriarachchi.

Nissanka Senadhipathi reveals truth on floating armoury

An old boy of Isipathana College of Colombo, Major Nissanka Senadhipathi, joined the Sri Lanka Army Commando Regiment as an Officer Cadet in 1985.  Having been trained in many foreign countries, he has served with distinction in many responsible duties in the Sri Lanka Army in the North and East.  Specially trained in VIP protection in foreign countries, he has excelled whilst serving as Chief Security Officer of Former President, late D. B. Wijetunge and Former Minister late Gamini Dissanayake.  Among these VIP protection duties, one of his most responsible and prominent duties had been serving as Chief Security Officer of the Head of Indian Peace Keeping Force, Lieutenant General A. R. Kalkat.  Major. Senadhipathi retired from the military in 1996.
